On October 22-24, 2026, heavy rain throughout Southwest Colorado caused extremely dangerous conditions associated with widespread flooding, road, trail, and infrastructure damage, and downed trees. As of Friday, October 23, field crews are assessing conditions across the Forest and we will report findings here. It may take days and even weeks to evaluate the full extent of the damage.

We encourage the public to avoid venturing out to the Forest when possible. Local emergency responders and search and rescue teams are already in high demand, and rescue or help may not be immediately possible for Forest visitors.

See up-to-date information below on road status. You may report significant road or infrastructure damage that is not listed below on our Forest Information Line voicemail: ‪(970) 501-5830‬.
