These mountains are home to several rare and sensitive plant and animal species. Please protect their habitat and prevent erosion by using the designated maintained route located at the La Plata Peak Trailhead, 8 miles west of Twin Lakes on Highway 82 and using trail number 1474 to reach the summit of La Plata Peak.
