The popular Sapphire Point Overlook and parking area above Dillon Reservoir will be closed for public safety during renovations May 17 through June 13.

Crews will be continuing the work they started last fall to improve visitor experience, including constructing a new overlook on the north side. Crews will widen the trail and make it more accessible, as well as install additional benches, pullout sites, interpretive signage and an additional vault toilet.

Sapphire Point is frequently reserved for small events such as weddings, with multiple bookings common on a single day. Beginning June 14, all event reservations at Sapphire Point will be for the new North Overlook. The old overlook site will no longer be used for events.

Sapphire Point is a multi-use site with a half-mile loop trail and two overlooks. It remains open to the general public during event reservations, which are available at ww.recreation.gov.
