Willow Fire Closure
The Willow Fire ignited on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, on the slopes of Mt. Massive west of Leadville, CO, and grew rapidly to roughly 1,100 acres with no containment. The fire perimeter now overlaps the Continental Divide Trail.
The Forest Service is closing all trails and trailheads from Tennessee Pass moving south and from Twin Lakes moving north. This closes the CDT between Tennessee Pass and Twin Lakes, from mile 1167.5 to mile 1201.25, a section the CDT shares with the Colorado Trail. Do not enter this section. If you are on trail within the closure area, leave now and move to safety.
Lake County has initiated a mandatory evacuation. All campgrounds around Turquoise Lake are being evacuated, and Hagerman Pass is closed. Conditions are changing quickly.
