Please Note: The area represented on our map is not a perfect representation of the closure boundaries currently in place by Forest Service. Please refer to the attached map for the most detailed boundary. Contact the Pike San Isabel National Forest for the most up-to-date information.

This closure restricts all public access to the described area shown on the map. The new closure order (July 30th) is a reduction in size as the areas to the north of Turquoise Lake are now open. However, Mount Massive and the ‘standard’ Northeast Ridge route for Mt. Elbert are still closed to the public. If you do enter the newly opened area, please be mindful of potential firefighting operations and changing conditions.

This order affects the Leadville Ranger District. The purpose of this order is to is to protect public health and safety and for the public to remain out of the areas listed.

A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581. 5.
