Deluge Lake
Perhaps the least popular of the five East Vail trails, as it is not only steep, but rocky. It also spends less time following the creek adding to it’s reduced popularity. After several rather grueling miles uphill, downhill, and uphill again, through a heavily wooded trail, you come to the open flat meadows. Wander through the meadow, across Deluge Creek, and after a short climb to the end of the tree line you’ll meet Deluge Lake.
Deluge lake is beautiful, making the effort worthwhile. Because of the more difficult nature of this trail, you are less likely to come across other hikers on your way, and more likely to get a parking space closer to the trailhead.
Note: Many trailheads near Vail have a fee but shuttles are available during the summer. Check with the city of Vail before visiting.
All leashed dogs are welcome on this trail. Best enjoyed late Summer or Fall.
