Starting with a steep uphill ascent, Pitkin Trail winds through dense aspens and meadows on its way to Pitkin Lake. A bit less steep overall than the other five East Vail trails, it is also one of the least crowded. The route alternates between steep climbs and flat meadows with views and wildlife, if you’re lucky.

Feel free to bring a dog along, just keep them on a leash. This trail is best enjoyed in the late Summer or Fall after the snow has melted and the leaves are changing.
