If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to stand on the top of the world, hike up to Mt. Elbert. Colorado’s highest point. Summiting the peak of a mountain standing above 14,000 feet, or a 14er as most call them, should be on everyone’s Colorado bucket list.

This is a difficult hike, but the total elevation gain of under 5,000 feet makes it one of the shorter hikes to a 14er. When hiking at this altitude, it is wise to reach the peak by noon to avoid common afternoon storms.
