Hike up to Saw Mill Trail and back. Lots of vertical and rocky, steep sections. First 0.65 miles to the stream crossing is easy. In the summer you need to carefully watch for prairie rattlesnakes. I saw many in June-July 2024. The forest starts at mile 2.3. On this day I hiked this route I saw a rattlesnake. I could have easily stepped on it if I hadn’t been looking at the trail. It didn’t rattle as I approached it. After I passed it, when I took a photo of it, then it rattled.
