Racoon Trail
Featured Route
This moderate and beautiful ~3.5 mile loop trail is in the north part of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The trail goes between aspen forests, conifer forests, open meadows and beautiful views. In addition to scenic vistas and aspen groves, it also has good wildlife viewing.
The parking area is limited to a few spots and there is usually a ranger stationed at the turn off to the road to the trailhead (State Park Road) who monitors the number of people allowed in. If the main parking area is full, there is another parking option to park on the side of the Gap Road, which is a half-mile to the trailhead along State Park Road. There are bathrooms at the trailhead.
