Grays Peak is a popular 14er in the front range. It also happens to be the highest point anywhere on the continental divide. The main route is the North Slopes Route via the Grays Peak Trail. It is a steady incline from the parking lot to the summit on a well-designed trail.  It is often combined with its neighbor and fellow 14er, Torrey’s Peak (Grays and Torrey’s Peak Combo)

Class: 1. The Gray’s Peak Trail is considered class 1, as it is well defined and built trail from the parking lot to the summit.

Trailhead/Parking: The trailhead is open seasonally (conditions dependent) so contact the forest service for current conditions. Also note, parking along the road is illegal and enforeced, if the upper parking lot is full you must start from the lot at I-70. If starting from the parking lot at I-70, it adds 3 miles each way to the hike. The road can also be rough in places and is not suitable for all vehicles.

Note: The trail does pass below known avalanche terrain, so be aware and check Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) forecasts when there is much snow present
