Pikes Peak is one of the most viewed and visited 14ers in Colorado as it rises abruptly over Colorado Springs. Although there are may routes up Pikes Peak, the East Slopes/Barr Trail is considered standard. The route is long, with lots of elevation gain, and exposed to the elements (both and hot and cold) making it more challenging than the well-maintained trail would suggest.

Class: 1. The East Slopes route follows the well maintained Barr Trail from the parking lot to the summit.

Trailhead/Parking:  Parking can be found at the Barr Trailhead. Note that it is a very popular area and the lot can fill up quickly, especially on weekend/holidays. There is street parking in the area but it does have a fee
