Huron Peak is a very scenic 14er located in the Sawatch range. The Northwest Slopes route up Huron Peak is a very well designed trail, which saw significant work several years ago. Since that work was completed, it’s a much nicer hiking experience and the views from the summit are amazing.

Near the summit (from 13,700-13,900 feet), it does get rockier and the trail can be a little harder to distinguish. If you lose the trail, in general stay near the ridge crest and the summit will become visible.

Class: 2. Huron Peak’s trail is very good overall. Near the top it gets rockier and there are a few places where the trail can be a little harder to find, especially early in the season when there is snow present.

Trailhead/Parking: All vehicles can make it to the south Winfield trailhead, which has a large open area for many cars. 4 wheel drive vehicles with good clearance can make it to the Clear Creek South Fork Trailhead, where the actual trail begins. The extra distance to walk from Winfield to the trailhead is ~ 2 miles.
