Mt. Harvard
Mount Harvard is the 3rd highest peak in Colorado and the highest point in the Collegiate Peaks wilderness.
From the trailhead, start off a on a very nice trail for ~1.5 miles until you reach a trail junction. Stay right for the Horn Fork Basin/Bear Lake trail. After another ~2 miles stay left at the junction for the Mt Columbia trail. After you reach ~11,500 feet you finally get good views of Mt Harvard as well as most of the remaining route.
Above treeline the trail gets steeper and rockier. From ~12,500-~13,000 feet it gets much rockier and can be harder to follow the trail. After this section, the trail becomes easier to follow and there are cairns along the way to help stay on route.. Just before the summit the difficulty again increases and you may need to take time to stay on route and keep the difficulty to class 2.
Class: 2. Most of the Mount Harvard Trail is easy to follow but above tree line there are a couple rocky areas where *** can be harder to follow. This is especially true just before the summit
Trailhead/Parking: The North Cottonwood Trailhead is accessible by any vehicle. Contact the forest service for current conditions
