Estes Cone
Featured Route
The Estes Cone is a small (for the area) mountain but has big views in every direction. This 3.1 mile out and back trail (6.2 miles round trip) begins at the Long’s Peak trailhead, which means parking can be limited/difficult in the summer when lots of hikers and climbers are attempting the much more difficult 14er, Long’s Peak. From the trailhead, the next ~1.8 miles will be spent on moderate grades in the forest. The last ~.25-.5 miles are much steeper and in the rcoky terrain, the trail can be easy to lose at times. The views from the summit of Longs Peak to the south and the Estes Valley to the north are beautiful.
