Bluebird Lake Trail

Bluebird Lake is one of the most scenic alpine lakes in the Wild Basin area and in all of Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s reached via moderate but long ~6.2 mile trail leaving from the Wild Basin trailhead. Along the way you pass the beautiful waterfalls of Ouzel Creek, Ouzel lake, and beautiful views as you break treeline approaching the lake. The trail reaches the eastern shore of Bluebird lake with unofficial trails along the rest of the lake.

This is normally done as a day hike but there are multiple backcountry sites along the route (make sure to check with park/website as reservations are required and usually sell out not long after being made public).

The Wild Basin Trailhead is located in the Wild Basin area in Southeast Rocky Mountain National Park (be sure to consult the website or the park directly for parking/entry information).
