Nokoni and Nanita Lakes Trail
Lake Nokoni and Lake Nanita are amongst the most stunning alpine lakes in all of Rocky Mountain National Park. They are reached via difficult (although rarely very steep for a long distance) and very long ~10.6 out and back mile trail (21.2 miles roundtrip) leaving from the North Inlet trailhead.
Along the way you pass beautiful Cascade Falls and other small waterfalls along north inlet creek, beautiful open meadows, and amazing views as you break treeline approaching the lakes. The trail first reaches the beautiful Lake Nokoni before continuing another ~0.9 miles and ~300 feet of gain to the even more beautiful Lake Nanita. If you have made it this far, try to visit both lakes!
This can be done as a day hike but there are multiple backcountry sites along the route (make sure to check with park/website as reservations are required and usually sell out not long after being made public) that are frequently used to reach the lakes.
The North Inlet Trailhead is located just north of Grand Lake in Southwest Rocky Mountain National Park (be sure to consult the website or the park directly for parking/entry information).
