The Bear Paw Loop accesses some of the best views in the park, via several overlooks, especially Eagle Cliffs and Catamount. This route is the most direct way to the loop, via the Old Mill trail. It creates a 7.1 mile route that is shorter than the other options (Mason Creek Trail and Borderline Trail).

Beginning at the Lazy V Parking Lot, turn right (north) onto the Old Mill Trail. Follow this gently rising, forested trail for ~1 mile. After ~1 mile you will reach the intersection with the Mason Creek Trail. The Mason Creek Trail passes some small but beautiful Aspen groves through this section. At around ~0.9 mile from the intersection, turn to the right and onto the Bear Paw Trail. This ~2.25 mile section is where the overlooks and the views reside. Take your time, enjoy the views, and ultimately return to the Mason Creek Trail retracing your steps back to the parking lot.

Also note for those riding bikes or horses, the Bear Paw Trail allows them but the Old MIll trail does not, so for those uses you would need to go via the Mason Creek or Borderline Trails.
