Alpine lakes and stunning vista are not always locked away in the back country. Summit Lake Park provides easy access to the popular Summit Lake and Chicago Lakes Overlook.

The overlook platform is half a mile round trip along a wheelchair friendly path. While the views from there are spectacular, Summit Lake itself is a wonderful example of the alpine environment. During the summer, you can catch the short blooming season of tundra wildflowers as well. Mountain goats are commonplace, just be sure to keep your distance!

Not surprisingly, this park can be extremely busy and parking fills up early.
