This trail begins by heading up Half Moon Pass trail. A series of switchbacks gives way to a less forested top with views stretching far to the east. Once over the top, the trail descends into a gorgeous valley with waterfalls and brooks and a possible glimpse of the cross, depending on whether. Designated sites are available at the stream crossing before heading up the mountain, which make for excellent stopping points for a multi-day trip.

Climbing Holy Cross from the northern ridge requires some minor scrambling over medium sized boulders. Be sure to stick to the ridge line as you descend.
