🏔️ Chasm Lake • Rocky Mountain National Park

Shockingly little snow above treeline. I was relieved that one person had already traversed the section above Peacock Pool, because I was still exhausted from Sky Pond two days prior. By the time I made it across, I was stopping every other step to catch my breath. Carving that path last year had taken close to an hour, and I wouldn’t have made it today.

The view of Chasm Lake never disappoints, in any season. But nothing in the universe can compare to standing in the middle of that lake with Longs Peak towering above you. It is a feeling everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
