Mount Massive-East Slopes Route (Standard)
Featured Route
Mount Massive is the 2nd highest peak in Colorado. Mount Massive is a huge mountain with multiple routes to the top. All of them are steep, but the east slopes route is considered standard as it is longer and the gain more steady. The Southwest Slopes route is shorter but much steeper.
Class: 2. The East Slopes/Mount massive Trail is considered a class 2 route. Most of it is on well-maintained trail but some rocky sections near the top give it a class 2 classification.
Trailhead/Parking: The Mount Massive trailhead is located 5.3 miles from the turn onto Halfmoon road. It is a maintained dirt road, reachable in almost any vehicle.
